Be Kind to Yourself

Nolan McDonnellMy first blog post that I ever wrote, posted below, was called, “Be Kind” and I thought it was worth revisiting. Many of us live in a fast paced society where we do not have enough time to care for ourselves, some of us have a lifestyle where we have to much free time on our hands, and all of us have probably have experienced a time of our life where we felt distraught, discouraged, and confused. We all hit rough patches in life, whether it is catching an illness, losing a parent, or becoming financially insecure, and no matter how terrible life treats us, it is always important to always treat ourselves with kindness and compassion. No matter the affliction is that crosses our paths, we always have the opportunity to be grateful and kind to ourselves. For example, one morning I woke up feeling deadly ill, turned out that I had h severe case of sepsis, I thought I was going to die, and my brother-in-law told me, “Not all days are good, but there is good in all days.” You find what you are searching for in life and misery is not to hard to find, however, if you look deep within, you can always find sources for gratitude and reasons to be kind to yourself. On that note, below is my original be kind blog post and below that are eleven “Be Kind to Yourself” quotes.

I heard a therapist say today, “we have to remember to be kind to ourselves.”  When it comes to recovery I know we want the healing to come faster than it is.  However, we are on a journey and we must be kind to ourselves along the way. Maybe tomorrow will be the day you are healed but, it does not matter, you have to be kind to yourself today as well.  We are on a once in a lifetime journey of meeting great people, learning new skills, and experiencing things very few people know about. This journey should be embraced. Nikki Giovanni said, “Life is not a problem, it is a process.  Only continued vigilance will allow us to hold on to our freedom.” Everybody, whether in therapy or not, needs to work hard and fight for what we want. This TBI is a journey for the patient, caregivers, and families and it is very important that we spend time to do things we enjoy, disconnect, from social pressure, and be kind to ourselves.

About Be Kind to Yourself Quotes

These be kind to yourself quotes might be able to help someone.  I do not want to make this post all about me, however, when I was in the hospital, and paralyzed from the neck down, once a week I participated in a support group called, “Be Kind to Yourself Quotes” where the hospital patients would practice mindfulness, how to be kind to ourselves, and self-love.  These lessons, and my experience from this “Be Kind to Yourself Quotes” class helped me a lot so I am sharing my anecdote in hopes that it helps someone else.

If you have any be kind to yourself quotes that you would like added to the list then leave them in the comments section below and I will be sure to add them.
