CBD FOR TBI SIDE EFFECTS

TBITREATMENT.ORG

Traumatic Brain Injury, TBI, has a long list of possible side effects ranging from headaches and nausea to and seizure risk.  Fortunately, there is a silver lining. While there are various medications, practices and methods for overcoming particular side effects of TBI, There is one that has been researched and shown to help considerably, and that is CBD.

What Is CBD?

CBD, or “Cannabidiol”, is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in cannabis plants, known to account for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.  This substance is extracted for use in a range of product applications, such as oils, edibles and tablets to induce a relaxed, calm sensation.  However, before the alarm bells start ringing due to the word cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive – unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the main psychoactive component found in marijuana and influences that “high” feeling.

How CBD Helps TBI

People using CBD claim its highly effective treatment against many, many medical conditions, some of which most notably include anxiety, chronic pain, depression, insomnia, epilepsy, nausea and muscle spasms.  These medical conditions are often experienced in those who have had a Traumatic Brain Injury. With the powerful “calming” effects of the CBD, your body and mind are induced into a state of relaxation where you are less likely to feel stressed.  With this in mind, people who consistently use CBD and incorporate it throughout their life can possibly enjoy:

  • Better sleeping patterns and sleep quality
  • A happier mind and lifted spirit
  • Increased appetite with no more nausea
  • Reduced psychotic symptoms (e.g. schizophrenia)
  • Reduced epileptic and seizure episodes
  • Alleviated pain symptoms associated with TBI, including headaches
  • Reduced hypersensitivity (over-stimulation)
  • Treatment for neurological disorders (including epilepsy)
  • A better overall well-being and recovery process

More often than not, CBD has shown to help, and there’s definitely no harm in
trying. If you are suffering from the many aforementioned side effects following a
Traumatic Brain Injury, CBD may be worth trying, and best of all, you can choose how
