Today, many of my social media followers saw one of my before and after pictures. A lot of them asked me how I made progress, and I told them, “No Bullshit, No Days Off, and No Excuses.” Many individuals have the opportunity to cross our paths and bring us down on a daily basis, however, the only thing that we are left to live with is how we choose to react to those interactions. Suppressive influences who intersectect our lives will move on with the lives of their own so you do not want to make any rash decisions that will scar you for the rest of your life. Furthermore, we must avoid not only other people who bring us down, we also need to be are of, and overcome, our internal voice that can hold us back from reaching our full our full potential as well. For example, if I have a set goal, there is nothing that I will allow to interfere with my success – and this includes any bullshit, excuses, or wishes to take it easy. Futhermore, if someone interferes with my life with any negativity, they instantly earn themselves a warm seat on my block list. If I want to fix all of the negative problems I have in my life – learning how to get dressed, wipe my ass, walk, overcome paralysis, and so much more – what makes you think I have the time or attention span to care about petty bullshit from others?
I do not, and neither should you.
Motivation to Live Without Bullshit
The truth is, we can block people on social media, and when someone discourages us in person, we can ignore that. However, when we are alone and negative self-talk occurs, we cannot run and hide from that. We can’t just flick a switch and “block” that, like blocking someone on social media. These are our inner thoughts, and they have more value and meaning than anything else. You can’t escape the self-talk but you can use internal dialogue to your advantage by talking yourself through the steps to overcome challenges. Furthermore, what has worked for me at least, is that every time I am faced with a challenge, instead of thinking why something cannot be done, I keep my mind focused on the solution, outcome I want, and the realistic steps necessary to find the success that I was looking for. For example, when I signed up to go back to college after my traumatic brain injury I could have said, “The part of my brain that was affected was the part that does math, and I need all my math classes.” But instead I told myself, “If the part of my brain that does math was injured then I should be doing all the math that I can get.”
Do NOT Interrupt Productivity With Negative Self-Talk
There is an ancient Chinese proverb that says, “The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.” What I learned firsthand from my recovery is that the only way to make huge and noticeable progress is to get busy by putting in work and not being interrupted by bullshit excuses, negative self-talk, or negative individuals.
This is something that can be learned and applied by everyone, not just someone who has gone through something traumatic. It applies to anyone wanting to make genuine progress – in life, for a particular goal, or any journey.
If you ask someone what their lifelong dream or goal is, and then ask them what they are doing to get there or accomplish it ,you are probably going to get a long list of answers like this:
“One day, hopefully.”
“Maybe in the future someday.”
“I just don’t have the time to focus on that right now.”
“I’m not doing much about it because my parents want me to do this instead.”
These fallacious barriers, or bullshit lies and excuses, if you wish to be honest, could go on forever with many more examples, and they probably sound very familiar to you. The key takeaway from these examples is the number of excuses given. Remember: “No bullshit, No days off, and No excuses.” On that note, there are many life coaches, wellness coaches as well, who make a killing by simply giving people the motivation to do less, talking, thinking, and more doing to help their clients reach the life that they want for themselves. You do not need the best life coach or wellness coach, so save your time and money, save your time, and money, what you need to do is put in action, find solutions to problems that you encounter along the way, and repeat this process throughout your journey.
Look for Solutions, Not For Problems
Imagine you hired the best life coach, or a wellness coach, and they gave you nothing but problems and made your life worse, you would fire them, right? Unfortunately you cannot fire yourself, but there is something you can do, find solutions for problems in your life. The moment that you start spitting out excuses as to why you cannot or will not look for solutions for your problems, you are already taking three steps back, not forward. If you’re complaining about how you’re not getting anywhere in life, think about why that is. What I am going to be sharing with you next, you will never hear from a wellness coach, or even the best life coach for that matter. You can be either part of the solution or part of the problem, whichever you choose, the answer comes from within you. For example, I have had many therapists tell me that I will never walk again however, with every reason that they verbally told me I responded with a solution through massive action. With that said, the sky is the limit if detach from whatever it is that is holding you down.
What is Your Motivation?
What is your motivation? Also, what is the motivation of those who you choose to surround yourself with? Are you spending your free time doing absolutely nothing, or are you investing your time, and putting in the effort, trying to better yourself and improve the state of your life? Are you letting others bring you down and prevent you from your goals? If your goal is to lose weight, are you putting in the effort for it, or are you slacking? You have to make sacrifices and you can choose to be either a creator or a consumer. In other words, are you actively putting in work creating the world that you wish to have for yourself or, are you being consumed by the world you live in and letting your envirnment shape your reality? The power to achieve your life that you aspire for comes from within you. With that said, the best life coach, wellness coach, or therapist can give you motivation however, the action to achieve success must come from within you.
What Do You Want?
If something is truly meaningful to you and it’s something you genuinely want, then you will not have any excuses, bullshit answers, or days off – you will want to work hard for it, no exceptions. Otherwise, you’ll continue to have endless negative self-talk, you will continue to live a life wondering “why” nothing is changing positively for you, and, worst of all, you’ll continue to look at other people’s successes and feel jealous by not having what they have.
The difference between you and the people who have material items that you want is that those people worked hard with NO excuses, NO bullshit, and NO days off to get there.
“Nothing worth having comes easy.”
